Our Objective
Our work at Vernacular Knowledge Research Group [VKRG] focuses on the record, curation, reconceptualization, and dissemination of the value of cultural heritage knowledges. To date, predominantly focused on Australasia, VKRG utilises strategies within research, teaching and engagement practices to explore interdisciplinary and multi-modal aspects of cultural heritage projects.
Its teaching/research nexus embraces intergenerational and cross-cultural relationships to understand often intangible, discursive or narrated connections with place, culture, environment and lived experience. VKRG’s objectives include mapping socio-cultural conditions and ways of seeing lived environments through different forms of media as a mechanism to prevent loss of everyday built form, space and practices that provide insight into the complexities of the human condition.
